Privacy

The short version: we set no cookies and run no analytics or tracking. Our hosting provider receives standard request logs, including your IP address, and Google Fonts receives your IP address when your browser loads our fonts. The calculators run entirely in your browser, and what you type into them stays on your device. We only receive personal information when you choose to contact us, through the contact form or by email. The rest of this page is the detail behind that sentence.

1. Who is responsible

Notla Ventures Limited, trading as Notla.Wales, is the controller of the personal information described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 16673455, at 144 Walter Road, Swansea SA1 5RW. For anything about your information, email hello@notla.wales.

2. What we collect, and why

Enquiries. When you contact us, through the contact form or by email, we receive whatever you send: typically your name, email address, something about your business, and, if you used the estimator, the summary it wrote for you. We use this to reply, to talk with you, and to prepare a quote. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request towards a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who write to us.

Clients. If you become a client, we hold your contact details, the content you give us for your project, and billing information. We use these to deliver the contract. Our lawful basis is the contract itself.

Records. We keep invoices and accounting records because company and tax law requires it. That is a legal obligation.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we never sell it.

3. What this website does in your browser

The tools on this site, the payback machine and the estimator, run entirely on your device. Nothing you enter is sent to us or stored anywhere. The "send this estimate" button simply opens your own email app with a message drafted for you; nothing leaves your device unless you press send in your own email. The contact form is different, and deliberately simple: what you type in it is sent to us through the service that hosts this website, and nowhere else. And like any website, the servers that deliver our pages see your IP address in order to respond to your browser; our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs for a short period to run the service securely.

One outside request: our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, and Google's servers see your IP address as part of that request, as with any web request. Google states that its Fonts API does not set cookies. There is more on this on our cookies page.

4. Who we share information with

Only the suppliers we need to run the business: the provider that hosts this website, the provider that handles our email, and our accountant for the records the law requires. Each handles information on our instructions. We share nothing else with anyone else, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

5. How long we keep things

Enquiries that do not become work are kept for up to two years, then deleted. Client project files are kept for the life of the project and any hosting or plan you have with us. Invoices and accounting records are kept for six years, because the law requires it.

6. Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Email hello@notla.wales and we will deal with it promptly and without fuss. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to sort it out with you first.

7. Client websites

Content you give us for your own website is handled for that project and on your instructions. If we host your site, we host what you have approved for publication. Your own website's visitors are your responsibility under your own privacy notice, and if you would like your site to make the same promises this one does, we would be delighted to build it that way.

8. Changes

If how we handle information changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top will tell you when.
